What is CNC Machining Services


Computer numerical control machining, referred to as CNC machining, is a subtractive manufacturing process. It utilizes computerized controls to operate and manipulate machine and cutting tools to produce custom precision machined parts, by removing layers of material from the workpiece.

CNC machining service is a manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software dictates the movement of factory tools and machinery. The process can be used to control a range of complex machinery, from grinders and lathes to mills and routers. With CNC machining, three-dimensional cutting tasks can be accomplished in a single set of prompts.

The Process of CNC Machining


You may think the CNC Machining process can be complex, the CNC Machining process is quite simple here at DH Machining, our process involves the following steps:


Design: Use CAD to create 2D or 3D models of the parts you need making.

Programming: Use the CAM software to convert the CAD into G-Code, which is the language used to program these machines.

Set up: Set up the machine with the correct tools and material.

Machine: When everything is set up, we can machine the part.

Inspect: IQC, IPQC, FQC, make sure the work piece had been machined according to design.

  • Highly Accurate – CNC machining can create parts with greater dimensional accuracy than most other common manufacturing technologies. During the final finishing machining steps, material can be removed from the workpiece very accurately, achieving very tight tolerances. Here at DH Machining, we offer a standard tolerance of any dimension in CNC machining is ± 0.1 mm. Features with tighter tolerance down to ± 0.010 mm can be produced and even tolerances of ± 0.005 mm are feasible.

In fact, when ordering 10 identical parts, the unit price is cut by about 70% compared to a one-off part. This is because 'economies of scale' start to kick in: the relatively high start-up costs of CNC are spread over multiple parts. Even on-demand production of one-off parts and prototypes is economically. This is especially relevant for one-off custom metal parts and prototypes, where CNC is the most cost-competitive solution.

    Tolerence for CNC Machining


    With a drawing, DH Machining can produce parts with tolerance as low as 0.003mm. Without a drawing, all parts are produced to our ISO 2768 medium standard.
